2025 KSA Veterans Suicide Awareness Campaign

For over a decade, suicide has been among the leading causes of death for post-9/11 U.S. military veterans. An overwhelming percentage of 21st century veterans can immediately call to mind friends, loved ones, and comrades lost to suicide since the September 11th attacks. Most also know someone who has come perilously close to a successful attempt.

As we begin 2025, KSA Integration is announcing a two-part social media campaign to increase veterans suicide awareness and promote activities we hope will contribute to preventing these terrible losses. Recent research suggests one of the few consistent indicators in supporting mental health is the importance of community and connection. Checking in on the men and women you served with — especially those with whom you’ve lost touch — really can make a difference.

Every Thursday throughout 2025, KSA’s social media feed will issue a call for our followers to participate in “Buddy Check Thursdays”. We’re encouraging veteran supporters to check in on someone whom you know is struggling, feel might be at risk, or haven’t spoken with in many years. Our intention is to promote the value of connection within the veteran caregiving community with a weekly reminder to reach out to each other (and the longer you haven’t chatted, the better). We may never know how much a text, phone call, or simple demonstration of concern can make a difference.

Additionally, on “Spotlight Saturdays”, we intend to highlight veterans service organizations, relevant non-profits, public-private partnerships, and other significant groups leading the veteran’s suicide prevention fight. We plan to shine the spotlight on at least 50 organizations, groups, and advocates this year on our social media and hope you, our followers, will support their efforts in whatever way possible as we promote them.

Our 2025 awareness campaign is barely a drop in the bucket compared with the work so many have advanced to contribute to reducing the tragic rate of veteran suicide. This year, we’re proud to support a cause in keeping with KSA Integration’s core values and humbly ask you, our social media followers, to endorse, support, and advance these efforts.
